Why being close helps with a MultiAir Alfa in Wallington
Wallington's town centre, around the Woodcote Road, Stafford Road and Manor Road junctions, gets busy at rush hour and on Saturdays, and a lot of local driving is short: to the station, to school, or across the A232 at Croydon Road and Acre Lane. For an Alfa Romeo with the 1.4 MultiAir or 0.9 TwinAir, those short trips matter, because the oil that operates the inlet valves ages faster when the engine rarely gets fully warm.
It is good practice to check the oil level between services on these engines, and many owners are not sure how, or which oil to top up with. Because we are close, it is easy to call in for a check and a top-up with the correct Fiat 9.55535 specification. It is also easy to bring the car in as soon as the idle feels rough or a warning light appears, which is when a MultiAir fault is simplest to diagnose and before a low-oil problem damages the actuator.
At a full service we change the oil and filter on time, check the oil pressure and temperature sensors, and inspect the ignition components that often cause similar symptoms. We check the timing belt history on the 1.4 MultiAir and diesel engines, scan all modules and inspect the brakes, tyres and suspension. For older Alfas, we look at known faults such as front suspension wear on the 159. Everything is quoted in writing before any extra work, and repairs carry a 3-month warranty. The short route means you can drop the car and walk home past Mellows Park or Wallington Town Hall.
From the town centre, head north on Woodcote Road past the station, onto Manor Road, across the A232 at Wallington Green and up London Road to Hackbridge, about six minutes. The Wallington Green crossing can queue at peak times.
