Purley Cross, Reedham and the case for timely BMW servicing
Purley is home to plenty of newer and premium cars, and a fair number of them are BMWs still under manufacturer warranty. A common question is whether moving to an independent garage affects that warranty. It does not, provided the car is serviced to BMW's schedule with parts of matching quality and the work is recorded. We handle routine servicing and repairs, and if something looks like a warranty or recall matter we will tell you and point you to a BMW dealer.
The roads here shape how those cars wear. The Purley Cross gyratory, where the A23, A22, A235 and A2022 meet, is slow and busy, with lorries turning across lanes. Around Reedham and up towards Russell Hill the residential roads climb and wind. Stop-start queuing followed by steep descents is a tough combination for brakes, and heat is what ages brake fluid and warps discs, so we check both carefully rather than trusting the pad sensor alone.
Lower-mileage cars are also common in Purley, and BMWs that sit for a few days between short trips have particular needs. Batteries can drop below full charge, and the car's electronics notice. Oil can reach its time limit before its mileage limit. We read the CBS data and battery history at every visit so we can see how the car is really being used and suggest sensible timing for the next service. For cars that sit, we also look at the brake discs for surface corrosion, which builds quickly on a car left outside and can cause grinding for the first few stops.
The route to us runs west up Foxley Lane through Woodcote to the mini-roundabout, then north along Woodcote Road, Manor Road and London Road into Hackbridge. It takes around 15 minutes. If you would rather not make the trip, collection and delivery can be arranged, and repairs we carry out come with a 3-month workmanship warranty.
